April 18, 2024 – The inaugural Ligier JSF4 series season opener went off without a hitch at NOLA Motorsports Park this past weekend and Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport quickly established itself as a top team in the series. When the dust had finally settled and the final checkered flag had flown, Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport earned one win and four podium results in the new Ligier JSF4 Series as they look to establish themselves as the team to beat.
In the inaugural event, it was Bacon Zelenka who took home third in the first Ligier JSF4 series race of the 2024 season with Australian Brad Majman following close behind in the fifth position. Kekai Hauanio got caught in an on-track incident relegating him to 12th on the results sheet after securing an impressive second-place result in qualifying. Despite securing a top-ten qualifying position, a crash in race one ended the weekend early for Demitri Nolan as his Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport machine was too badly damaged to continue.
Making a comeback in race two, Hauanio turned his second-place grid position into a trip to the winner’s circle, claiming his first win of the season, and the first win for Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport in in the Ligier JSF4 program. Bacon Zelenka and Brad Majman had solid results rounding out the top-five and finishing fourth and fifth respectively putting three team drivers in the top-five.
To wrap up their weekend, Brad Majman made his first podium appearance in race three climbing to the second step of the box over teammate Kekai Hauanio who finished third and recovered with a pair of podium results after the incident in race one. Bacon Zelenka earned his third top-five result of the weekend showing that he has what it takes to run at the sharp end of the grid in JSF4.
“I’m proud of the JS F4 Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport drivers,” explains Team Owner Teena Larsen. “You never know what to expect in a new series, but our drivers knocked it out of the park, and we continued our success from the past few seasons in the first event of 2024. It wasn’t a perfect weekend, but one to be pleased with as we look forward to the rest of the 2024 schedule. We’ll be looking forward to Road America in a month.”
The JS F4 series drivers will travel north to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, and the famed Road America for another three rounds of racing from May 16th through the 19th. Road America is one of the longer tracks on the 2024 schedule mapping a lengthy 4.048 miles with 14 turns with multiple elevation changes.
